Six of Crows

Bardugo, L. (2015). Six of crows. New York: Henry Holt and Company.

This is a steampunk fantasy book that takes place in a dark international town called Ketterdam. The chapters alternate between each of the six main characters who join together to pull off one of the greatest heists ever. The characters are what truly make this book. Leigh Bardugo does an excellent job of developing each one by providing ample backstories and details. They are a band of misfits, runaways, skilled thieves, and more, all with different reasons for coming to Ketterdam. Kaz Brekker is their leader who comes across as much darker and mysterious than he truly is. Once commissioned with a nearly impossible task, they work together for a big payoff that will also prevent their magical world from completely spinning out of control if Grisha power gets into the wrong hands.
