Evaluting Nonfiction for Children:
- What are the qualifications of the author?
- Are the facts accurate?
- What is the purpose and scope of the book?
- How does the organization of the book assist readers in locating information?
- What role do visuals play?
I think nonfiction books are some of the harder ones to sell for YA readers. They seem to have a preconceived notion that these are boring informational texts without any story.
